Ok. So I just put together the bar and tried it. When I opened the shipping box the item box was broken open and there were nuts and washers loose in the box. Upon unwrapping the bar's bubble wrap, I saw that the pads where the bar hits the door frame were all well worn. The plastic caps that cover the holes were broken so they wobble and there is a gap. When I pulled one off it was obvious that someone had smashed it. Some of the holes don't line up through the tubing so when you try to insert the screws through two tubes to connect them, the screws don't go through easily. You have to line them up perfectly then pound them in. I had to put padded circles (non-slip furniture circles) under the bolts on the overhead door jam bolts to keep it from digging into the wall. I had to put white washcloths under the pads that hit the side frames to keep them from leaving black marks. The padded hand bars are not thick at all. A 12-year-old could easily grip and do a pullup with the thickness of the bars. Two of them were covering the holes that the screws go through, so I tried to pull/push it out of the way to make room for the washer. The padding tore.I am somewhat concerned for my safety while using this for actual pullups. There is significant flex in the metals when putting weight on it. I am less than 1/2 the maximum weight "capacity" but I would hate to see what happens when someone at the full weight tries it. I know some may have the opinion that if it's cheap then don't expect quality. However, with things that involve the safety of self and others, I always expect quality even if it is for a "reasonable" price. Honestly, if I hadn't spent all that time putting it together and wanted to go through the hassle of returning it I would have sent it back with the tattered instructions. It is obvious that someone else received it, tried it, was disappointed, and returned it. If I do so, someone else will be the sad recipient. I'm just going to take this dud off the market. If you are serious about using a bar to do any arm/ab workouts, I would honestly suggest that you stay away from bars that hang in a door. Buy the whole kit-and-kaboodle in a freestanding type. It's expensive, but, in my experience, hanging ab and arm workouts are the most effective way to train, sculpt, and condition.
