As the name suggests, the HDMI encoder works great and the picture quality is VERY good. For my purposes, I didn't experience any lag when converting from VGA to HDMI. The only issue is the included USB power cable, which is a shame. The adapter dies as soon as a signal is detected and remains in a "loop" state, causing my monitor to cycle on and off. For my own sanity I decided to test the cable with my load tester and the voltage drops sharply from 5.19V to 4.98V on a tiny 100mA load. Anything higher, the voltage drops below 4.5V, which is far above the USB standard and will cause the adapter to become unstable. As soon as I replaced the cable with a known cable, the adapter worked perfectly. If you look at the third picture in this review you can see how much wiring they used with this cheap cable. I would have given this product 5 stars if it wasn't for the cheap cable although it wasn't a deal breaker for me and I would still recommend it with the right wiring.
