Having seen some of the other reviews and of course the accompanying photos I was definitely wary of ordering this one let alone trying it! After 5 uses I feel comfortable leaving a review and let me just say it's great. I don't mean to be rude or snobbish, but I really don't understand what the problem is with people cutting themselves. I will say that I read other reviews that said the cutter inserts should be aligned first; which mine were right out of the box. I had no problem cutting myself. The first use was so slow and gentle because I was afraid it would look like Edward Scissorhands was my barber. I even cut myself on Memorial Day Friday so I had three days to heal before going back to work. Still nothing, not even a nickname. So if you're afraid of cutting yourself I really don't think you need it. I've been shaving my head for almost 2 years so I'm not a master and this works great for me. I replaced my previous clippers of choice which were also fine but didn't get as short as I wanted. After using these new ones I could tell it was a bit shorter but I really noticed a difference when I used the towel after a shower and the towel "stuck" to your head. if they are primarily intended for African American hair, as I have constantly seen a product associated with its use for this purpose. While I can't speak to their effectiveness, I can say they work great on my Caucasian head. In general I am very satisfied with these machines. The accessories that come with it are also very good. The cleaning brush works so well that the clippers still look almost new to me. The only downside I have with these clippers is that I don't get the "one shot" kick like my old ones. Maybe I just need to know what angle is best for cutting, but I've found I often have to go back to blemishes and it takes a little longer. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone who wants a very close shave.
