I'm so disappointed to give a bad review but hope Epsom can work on it for their future products. I've been buying HP printers my whole life and have been wanting to switch to them for the past few years. While I have many positive things to say about HP printers, I am convinced that their monopoly on cartridges and customer service makes them the worst company in the world. NOBODY wanted to switch more than me! So I was really looking forward to ordering my Epson printer! PROBLEM #1 ENVELOPE BIN: I bought this particular printer because I read a review that mentioned there are 2 bins for printing envelopes, letters etc (I print about 1000 envelopes a week so that was one great feature). Well that is NOT true. I was disappointed to find that 2 compartments are for letters. Only ONE compartment is for envelopes. I think it's a little annoying. How difficult is it to get both trays to print on envelopes? PROBLEM #2 PAPER JAM: I used it for 24 hours and it jammed like never before. I thought maybe I had a bad printer, but my husband read that a lot of people complain about it jamming all the time. Using envelopes was a nightmare. Plain paper is jammed. I didn't even try to type anything crazy. I went about my usual day and printed a few sheets here and there before I even started the envelopes. I couldn't believe how many paper jams I had. PROBLEM NO. 1 TAKES MORE THAN ONE SHEET AT A TIME: I'm sure that's why so many paper jams occur. The printer feeds more than 1 sheet at a time. A few years ago I had a printer that kept getting stuck, so I switched to better quality paper and shipping labels. This completely solved the problem. So I know that the paper I use is by no means cheap. But this printer's sensor keeps picking up more than it should. When it doesn't jam, it prints on 4 sheets of unfolded paper as it does on 1 sheet. I threw away about 15 sheets in 24 hours because it prints multiple sheets instead of one. Sometimes I got lucky and it took 5 sheets but it only printed the top sheet (not all 5) but then I had to reload all the other sheets. That happened all the time. After this continued I had to print my sheets and place 1 label or sheet of paper at a time, all because I didn't trust the sensor to only detect ONE. The positive thing I can say about this is that there was an error (.found it to be my fault). I called Epson and was immediately contacted by a friendly customer service representative. I appreciate that because HP is a customer service nightmare. I was really shocked at how quickly I got through and they didn't ask me any questions to make sure I was under warranty. You only helped. I saw a clear difference there. I also found the wifi/setup to be easy. And I also love that this company isn't a crazy ink control company and I hope they never will be! So maybe I will never recommend this printer. Most people who buy such a printer are people who print a lot. It will only give you a headache. However, I don't mind trying Epson again. And I fully support them in making an impact and making the printer a rock star that everyone will love and buy. After this bad experience with this printer, I started thinking about going back to HP, but I kept saying, "No, no, it's just a bad date! Be strong! Your ideal printer is ready!β Ha ha. So if anyone would like to drop me a line and help me find one, I'd really appreciate it. In the meantime, I'll try and hope my review will help you!
