Excellent reliable drive, fast when it worked

Having had mixed results with Sabrent products in the past, I was hesitant about this purchase. When I opened the box I was amazed, the product looks and feels great. The case has been well engineered with an aluminum body and a tool-less feature that gives you peace of mind that it won't pop open automatically. It has a small rubber bushing inside to hold the drive. Thermal pads are included, but I'd love to see videos or tutorials on how to use them properly. Overall it looks like a quality product. My joy lasted only 2 minutes. When I connected it to my Surface Pro, I was able to copy some files at a reasonable speed before the drive went dead. When I reset the USB connection, the drive didn't show up at all and the light didn't come on. After waiting 30 seconds, the blue light will turn on and Disk Manager will show Sabrent Online, but there is no space to allocate. When trying to use it on another system the drive boots but only copies at 40MB/s through a USB 3 port on a Dell 9560. I tried another NVME drive and experienced the same thing, it worked and it did then shut down for a few minutes. never unloaded. I've run OS scans, reboots and the like, but have never been able to reconnect the drive to my surface. However, I hope this is just a minor manufacturing defect and not an electrical design issue and I will update my review accordingly if this changes.
