Review on ViewSonic XG2705-2K Frameless LCD IPS Monitor with FreeSync and Ergonomics, HDMI 2560x1440P Resolution by Andrew Gorsage

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works with nVidia GeForce 1050 graphics card.

Bought this monitor based on the reviews on this site. Inside the box is an HDMI cable, power cord, stand, plastic headphone ring, and a quick start guide. No DP cable. Full instructions are available online. Following the advice posted, I checked for dead pixels. I haven't seen any. It is connected to an nVidia 1050 card via DisplayPort. As a Fedora Linux user, I was curious how this would work. From a Linux point of view, there were no problems. nVidia's proprietary video driver drives the monitor at a resolution of 2560 x 1440 at 144 Hz Vsync. The screen is very sharp. I don't notice any leaks. Checked the built-in speakers. It's very tinny, with weak mids and no bass. In any case, I use external speakers. The stand features tilt and height adjustment and is easy to adjust. One note is that the monitor is heavy for its size. It seems like most of the weight is on the stand.

Pros
  • Works well and as expected. No faults except that I need an HDMI cable, but it comes with a displayport, which is fine.
Cons
  • Bad customer support.
