Review on πŸ’Ύ Superior Dual Bay RAID USB-C External Drive Enclosure: Introducing MiniPro RAID V3 by Jonathan Arroyo

Heavy interference with Bluetooth devices

Not sure what I'm going to do with this drive. It's currently about 4ft from my BT mouse and constantly in the way. I have so many disconnects from both my mouse and keyboard, now I have an old wired mouse that is permanently plugged in. When the drive is plugged in, I also get erratic mouse movements. At the time of writing this review I've had at least 20 power outages. I bought 2 of these USB 3 drives. One came with FireWire and I reverted to that interface on an old Mac mini that I use as a server (believe the tests on the web are correct, FireWire 800 is faster than USB 3, both for large files and for many small ones). ). The other case didn't have FireWire and I used it to replace two dual ThunderBolts. There was an error. The move from premium interfaces to USB was just plain stupid, my wrong opinion. For those using clones for backup, this case needs to be plugged into a port on the computer and my SSD boot drive needs to be installed in slot 1. This also required a few mounts before the drive finally showed up. If you're used to USB and all its shortcomings, this is a decent drive, maybe a very good one. But ask yourself if you really want to delve into USB just to save a few bucks. Many years ago I took a really long vacation from USB. I should have stayed there. Why I Did It: Less noise, less heat than 3.5" drives. Would I do it again?: No

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Almost everything there
