That's the way it is with this microphone. It's from Shure, which undoubtedly means it has excellent build quality and is made from premium materials. However, it has a TERRIBLE running noise and the built-in wind/pop filter isn't very effective. Vocals sound clear and clean, but there's a very faint static hum in the background, which (to me, at least) is quite annoying. I bought it for street interviews and cannot use it for that due to handling noise. I don't know what I'm going to do with this mic, maybe I'll use it in the studio on a tripod. Be sure to use the optional wind/splash shield, and this isn't the best mic for handheld situations. I love Shure and they will always be my #1 source for mics, but nobody can make a quality mic for less than $100. Can't recommend and I'm disappointed.
