Review on Enhanced Cooling Efficiency: Mounting Plastic Socket Cooler Heatsink by Chris Cruz

Very fast delivery. As the reviewer mentioned, getting them in without breaking or bending anything else takes a bit of work. For 2 of the 4 pins, I took large nail clippers and slightly trimmed the outside edge of the clear plastic tab that sticks out, making sure the existing curve slides (pops out) at an angle, but isn't trimmed. Flat inner edge so it won't slip out again. I bought these because the last time I cleaned my computer I hadn't noticed that (1) the thermal paste had dried out (+10 years) and that (2) I had broken the contacts so the heatsink wasn't properly matched to the Intel Core i7 920 processor The PC ran quite slowly and shut down when working intensively. I installed the Intel Setup Utility and noticed that my computer is slow due to thermal throttling and the CPU core temperature is quite high (nearly 100 degrees Celsius). After removing the fan, completely removing the old thermal paste, cleaning the processor and heatsink, applying new paste, and reinstalling the heatsink and fan with new contacts, the computer works like new!
