Protection for my opinion
I am sure it helps a little as far as insulation. I purchased it more for protection and cleanliness of the fridge. It also has a lot of pockets to store the adapters and wires that come with the fridge. Even little extra storage for more crap.

Cons
- The package does not include any installation instructions, making it hard for new users to set up.
