Easily fits my iPhone 8 Plus in a HUGE Otterbox Defender case of about 1/2 inch (see picture). This was key as I didn't want to take the phone out of the case every time. I had previously ordered a different running belt/fanny pack and the phone barely fit so the zipper broke early. In this one I don't feel like the zipper is tight or about to tear and I think I can put my keychain in there. I've only used it a few times so I can't comment on actual durability. It feels tight and doesn't bounce. The buckle and strap feel solid. I'm 5ft 1in, 135lbs if it helps connect (trying to lose weight with this thing 😉).
