I am a beginner knitter and got a large assortment of long metal needles. My current project is knitting a small scarf for my 4 year old. My threads kept slipping off the ends of my metal needles. I've searched several forums for suggestions. One suggestion was to buy cheap bamboo knitting needles. It was the perfect solution. I haven't had any stitch slippage yet, but the stitches jump easily from one needle to the other. The size is also perfect for this small project. My other needles are 14", which was bulky for a scarf, but these 10" needles are just right.
