Review on πŸ” PROTAG Duet Bluetooth Tracker: Convenient White Retail Packaging by Doris Tran

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Reliability issues Mar brilliant idea

Great concept, poor execution. I ordered this item to avoid leaving my iPad in strange places. I thought the concept was very clever (something like the opposite of Bluetooth connectivity). However, this item has a few disadvantages. The biggest thing for me is the thin case it is housed in. To be honest I contacted the company to ask for more cases as the one I had was damaged and no longer stuck to the device. The company immediately contacted me and said they would be sending me some additional cases (not yet received at the time of this review). The second is reliability. When I first bought the product and used the included app on my (Android) phone, the phone went off an alarm every time I got within about a 30 foot radius of the tracker. Although it was a bit annoying, it worked consistently every time. Noticing that the alarm sometimes wouldn't go off after going out of bluetooth tracking range, I wrote this down to a low battery and (very easily) replaced the button battery. Since then, however, it's been a bit of a hit and miss. Sometimes the alarm sounds when I'm out of range of the tracker, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the alarm goes off for no apparent reason when the tracker and phone are next to each other. This lack of reliability led to the above star rating. I WANT this device to work consistently all the time, but it just doesn't work. As far as I can tell, this is the only product on the market of this size that does (more or less) what it says on the tin. namely, to warn you when the object to which it is attached is out of the Bluetooth range of your mobile phone
