Review on Moen YB2224ORB Brantford 24 Inch Bathroom by Eric Hay

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Looks good but very poor attachment system.

I've always liked Moen products. I've used them on many home renovations over the years. I'm hesitating between 5 stars for the optics and 1 star for the fastening system, i.e. 3 stars. First, they look and feel great. Well done. I bought the same style for 4 bathrooms in a house in Georgia and then again for 2 bathrooms in Maine. I've always complained about the small screws that attach the unit to the wall. I take everything back. The new system is terrible. In Georgia, at least, they used a metal mount on the wall. When I moved to Maine it was a plastic screw. Second, never plan on taking them off the wall. So if you ever plan on painting a room, do that first. You can try to push a small piece of plastic into the base of the device, but this will destroy it and render it unusable. Make sure the holes are positioned correctly in the wall. Any mistake will take time to be corrected. Be sure to tighten the screw in the wall sufficiently before attaching the pole. Dress beyond what the instructions say. If it isn't tight enough and the device comes loose, good luck trying to fix it. When you mount the device on the wall, you should hear a click. But that doesn't always happen (make sure you insert the top first, then use a lot of force to push the bottom against the wall). And if you hear a click, you have a solid connection. Moen, please return the small screws. I know you're trying to lower the cost, but I'd prefer you raise the price a few bucks.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Bad experience
