These storage containers will work for moving our son into his apartment but if I wanted to store precious china I would choose something else. As stated in the description these are not hard sided but I wouldn’t consider them expandable either. The circular containers are deep but the smaller ones were too small for his dishes. We ended up stacking his larger and smaller plates in the larger container and using the two next sized circular containers for his bowls. Ideally one set of plates and bowls would have fit in an individual container. The zippers seem rather flimsy but maybe that’s bc we had to squeeze so much into one container. The two containers for glasses and coffee cups worked really well. We had to put his glasses in upside down but that wasn’t a surprise considering the container was intended for wine glasses.
