I bought this for my grandniece's 9th birthday. I worried that she might find out all of this. Ha! children today. She was able to read the instructions, figure out the buttons and snap videos and photos in no time, review both and then help me :) upload them to my laptop so she could delete the ones she wanted to delete to free up card storage space. She had a lot of fun, especially because of the waterproof case so she could take it into the water with her. The only downside is that you can't hear any sound inside the waterproof case, but that didn't seem to bother them. :)
