I bought these for my work computer as soon as I got rid of my second work computer, a PC. There are two models for the 13-inch Retina, one for $99 (this one) and one for $199 (the 13-inch LandingZone DOCK for MacBook Pro with Retina display models A1425 and A1502) . The reason I bought this model (besides the price) was actually the fact that it has NO ports on the back. I have to plug and unplug USB sticks a lot, so it would be difficult to investigate behind my computer. I already bought a USB3.0 hub and connected it to the docking station. The other reason I bought this instead of a side model was that they can't use the HDMI or USB port on the right side of the computer. Since I'm using 2 monitors and an ethernet cable (the one over thunderbolt) this type of docking station wouldn't work for me. For audio, I just got a $5 Revain USB stereo adapter. The total cost for all three (dock, hub, and adapter) is still less than the $199 model, and my setup was pre-packaged so I didn't have to do any fussing.
