We recently bought our switcher and an extra set of controllers. When we opened, only one set of controllers had enough power to play. I knew we needed something other than the console to charge all the controllers. i found this Upon searching I also found that it can charge "old" controllers made for this system. I thought it would help if I bought the "old" controllers mentioned. The towers in the center emit a nice soft green light. When I first put a dead controller on it, the light was red and then turned green. Not sure if the red was a sign it was dead or a bad connection. UPDATE: After a few weeks I found that one of the controller connections is bad. For some reason the controller (I have two sets) with the - sign doesn't sit in a slot long enough to charge. The indicator stays green all the time - all fine - but if a drained controller sits on it, it turns red until fully charged, except for one slot - always green and never charged. So sad. I'll try to replace it - I hope the second device works fully. *** UPDATE 2 *** I replaced the controller charging station. All 4 controllers are seated for charging as expected. The light on the towers turns red when a controller is placed and stays red until all controllers are charged. Thank you for sharing!
