Review on Iwata 5550 LPH400-144LV Spray Gun - Gun Only by Michael Sharp

First of all, I'm not a professional auto painter, but I spray paint a lot. Over the years my friends who are professional sprayers have told me that this gun is the best out there for spraying clear materials (this gun has a silver cap). They all use the 1.3 needle instead of the 1.4 that comes with this gun. Not knowing if it was fake, I called one of my professional painters and asked if it was a fake gun. He said it looked like a real deal but he wouldn't know until I got my hands on it. So I ordered it along with a 1.3 needle (part number 93897600). After receiving it and before spraying it, I brought it to him to look at. After comparing it to his own gun of the same type, he said it looked and felt like the real thing, as did the green hologram on the gun, which isn't on the Amazon listing. He then said that the real challenge would be spraying with him because he could spray here based on the sound of the gun and the fan spray if that were the case, so we changed the needles to 1.3 and sprayed something clear . He then said it was the real deal! He set up the gun and told me to use 20 to 22 pounds of pressure to spray. I have been spraying clear coat ever since and wish I had bought this gun many years ago. This 1.3 point pistol is very forgiving compared to my other guns I've used in the past. Now you have a lot of overspray, but I waste mistakes fixing colors or sagging. I will never use this gun for base coat or anything other than clear coat. Bite the bullet and buy this gun if you want the best weapon for clarity! You will not regret it! Also, my professional painters have been using these guns for almost 10 years with no problems. (Just clean it when you're done!) Plus, even used, they make good money.
