either sticking out of the wall or the monitors are 10 inches apart

Heavy load. that's why he started in the first place. Because of the way the hinges are positioned, the device either sticks out of the wall or there is a 10-inch gap between the two monitors. We used it with 2 24 inch monitors and it just didn't work. There must be another hinge.
