If you want the Velcro to work buy these WIDE sized kids shoes
I love Sperry kids shoes but I learned an important lesson when I bought these - Sperry's stride is very narrow, and that's worth buying the WIDE version of this shoe if your kid's feet are even a bit big/lumpy. My child's feet aren't very wide, but he needs a WIDE sole on all of the Sperry sneakers for the velcro to work. Listen to other reviews when they say the velcro doesn't fully bond - that's code to buy WIDE
