Like many other reviewers, my table arrived with a small dent in the surface. However, this was not enough to persuade me to return it. I really think if they had wrapped it in bubble wrap or something it would have arrived pristine. Unfortunately not. It's a good weight and held its position even though I didn't do anything to secure it to the base of the pedestal I placed it on. I need to find a way to attach it without damaging the floor because once I do it's irreversible. I live alone and mostly eat at my desk in the home office. My desk is quite large and used to be a dining table before it was remodeled. However, as I don't entertain guests very often it made more sense to use it as a table as I can always remove it and put it back in the middle of the dining room if I need to accommodate a group of people. I bought a pedestal because sometimes I have another person for dinner and I didn't want to clean and move my table every time. The tabletop on my wooden base, which otherwise serves as a plant stand, is perfect for this! The mahogany side is very pretty and goes well with my decor. And while it's a good, solid weight, it's light enough that I don't mind picking it up and carrying it around when I need to use it.
