I've just ordered six of these. I've bought them before and given a pair as gifts. My first one broke after prolonged use. I tend to keep things for a very long time. (I have, and still use, my grandmother's hard-boiled egg slicer, who died in 1953.) But for a fairly cheap product, I wasn't too upset that the knife broke. My second is going strong and I'll probably keep one of the six as a backup and give away the other five. I find it more efficient to use large carrots and I place the carrots on a cutting board and work from the center. to the end of the carrot, alternating between both ends, turning the carrot as you go. This leaves me with very little that isn't cut into strips, which I either cut with my hands or eat or give to the dogs.
