My Thermaltake PSU's fan had failed, so I had to find a (silent) replacement. Based on other reviews, I chose this Fractal Design fan. It is expensive? ? Yes. I think it's worth it? Yes. When you look at the big picture: fan size, design, cable sleeving, mounting hardware, and gearing, I think that makes a lot of sense. The overall quality is top notch. Also dead silence. It was claimed to spin at around 1000rpm, and it does. I don't hear any engine noise at all. The only sound it makes is a faint "whistle" when I put my ear to it. It's completely inaudible when you're more than a foot away. The only drawback is the airflow. He feels very down. But that's a compromise I was aware of when I bought it. I wanted peace and I got it.
