It's actually leak proof. I will warn, it will drip out of the spout but that's from little ones leaving fluid in the spout when they remove it from their mouth too soon. I've had no issues with these cups. I saw some reviews that it's hard to line up, but no other explanation so let me explain. The lid is difficult to line up with how the cup should be held but kids don't care how they're "supposed" to hold a cup and it doesn't affect drinkability and it still doesn't leak. The only complaint I have is the lid has quite a bit of nooks and crannies. It's difficult to clean. The vent parts are easy to clean but the lid itself takes some doing. I'm okay with that considering it's a lot easier than cleaning messes up all over the house.
