I work in food prep and need a waterproof, durable and accurate scale. So far, this block has more than lived up to the bill. I chose it because it is said to be very waterproof and has so far exceeded my expectations. It sets up and calibrates faster than those the company offers for $300 and weighs four times less. It is rechargeable and accepts AAA batteries. Readings are light and dark to save power. If it is as waterproof as they claim I will be very happy with this purchase. Time will tell, but after a month of use, I highly recommend it, especially if you work in a humid environment. Update: After several months of daily use, it has proven to be waterproof. I rinse and dry it but as per their warning I have never submerged it in water and it works fine. From time to time it "freezes" and after a couple of clicks resumes the correct work. I think this problem is because the scale pan "gets stuck" because a light press or two will bring it back to normal. An excellent product that outperforms the expensive and less reliable commercial Ohaus models we have.
