Kitchen utensils and gadgets in a great design

One of those chunky metal-tipped meat thermometers with a large pressure gauge has been sitting in my kitchen drawer for years. Being a vegetarian, I have it once a year on Thanksgiving when we are hosting the family and cooking the turkey. If you're even a little familiar with old-school thermometers, you'll know that their pointed stems are very thick, so a lot of juice will come out when the flesh is punctured, plus the dial moves slowly and is quite erratic/inaccurate at the time temperature measurement. . This miniature digital model is a definite improvement. First, it folds neatly for storage and doesn't take up much room in a desk drawer. It has a thin stem that forms a relatively small opening to minimize moisture loss. And I love the digital display (much better than hesitating to see the dial wiggle). But most importantly, it seems to be fairly accurate [within a degree or two]. I tested it by holding it under my arm to take my own body temperature and in the required six seconds I got a reading of around 96 degrees. Not too old. This is a great alternative to old-fashioned "analog" food thermometers.
