I have found this product to be very helpful in keeping my tank at 7.0. Don't expect this miracle cure to keep your tank at a perfect 7.0 forever. This is to help you avoid sudden pH shifts, maintain a relatively stable pH between aquarium changes, or bring the pH back to 7.0 if something has changed. at 7.0 and if the pH is changing rapidly, this is an indicator that something is wrong with the general water quality of the aquarium. Just enforcing a pH of 7.0 doesn't mean that water changes can be skipped or that overfeeding won't affect water quality; actually this means that the pH is in the ideal range of 7.0. I do water changes in my 40 gallon tank every two weeks and use this between changes to keep the pH around 7.0. My pH goes down to about 6.7 and that brings it back to 7.0 and on the next water change it will be back to about 6.7 by the time I do a water change. It doesn't mean your tank will always be at 7.0, but it's great for keeping the tank healthy. it's in the tank. I don't mind being cloudy because when used in the recommended amounts it only stays cloudy for about 15-20 minutes when dissolved in water. I really see no reason why this would harm your filter media if used correctly. If anything, the particles are stopped in the filter media, reducing cloud cover as it continues to break up.
