I don't use a straw, I just use the main pull tab to open and close and the rubber material that seals is great. Got this for a jar which I really like but the size was wrong. Which pissed me off, but I found an old jar around the house that fits perfectly (Ozark Trail 20 oz). Drinks are still in so I usually just put in iced coffee, some ice, sugar and some milk/cream etc and it stays cold all day and in the afternoon I can switch to sparkling water. Throw it in and it stays cold all day. The ice melts slowly and there are no problems with spills or leaks. The rubber seal on the large lid came loose a little from repeated opening and closing, but I did trim a bit. of it and it still seals well and doesn't leak, it's just fantastic. Oh, and I love the fact that you can snap the large drinking cap onto the outer lid and it stays open so you don't have to hold it open with your nose. but the straw cover can be closed, but also has a great seal. All in all a great purchase, I just want it to match my 24oz glass which I have and love.
