Module Complex Assembly

I bought this when we visit our grandchildren after our second Covid vaccination. My 8 year old is quite skilled and a good soldering iron. My 10 year old daughter is amazingly artistic so she may have different ideas on how to structure this. I looked at the assembly instructions (many pages). They are listed on the small card that comes with the kit. I would consider this an advanced project for kids. I expect Grandpa to handle most of the gathering as her attention span may not be enough. A note on LEDs. It's not just LEDs. There is a small chip in each block. When power is applied, they automatically switch between a specific color set. Thus, the controller turns on each layer in a specific order to cycle through the colors. For example, it is not possible to always program a plane to be blue. This also means that when testing, you can burn out a reverse polarity LED if you turn it on. With the correct connection direction, it takes a little over two volts to get an LED to glow, and 5V (say from a USB cable) will glow very brightly (and can burn them out). I've used these LEDs on projects with kids in the past and powered them directly from a lithium coin cell (3V) battery. To test a single LED, use a coin cell battery with a 200-300 ohm resistor in series, or a power supply limited to around 50mA if connected in reverse. The manual also has a test procedure, but I haven't got there yet. I'll get back to you in a few months after installation.
