Bumper "doesn't hold things in place "

The claim "keeps things in place" isn't good enough to advertise. I bought these bumpers to keep desktop items from sliding on a smooth desk surface, but they made little difference (no matter how many bumpers I stuck on). These bumpers would make great closet door silencers, but that's about it. They are not effective non-slip "feet" for objects on slippery surfaces.
