This review is for the TEW-752DRU Dual Band USB Gigabit Router. I bought this router when it sold for $35 in July 2014, replacing a single band router I've had for 7 years. Considering the price range, this is a fantastic router. For $35, it's a steal to get a working dual-band router with Gigabit WAN/LAN ports and a USB port. Performance at 2.4GHz is on par with the single-band router I replaced. Simultaneous dual band works fine. I didn't use the USB port, so I can't say anything about the functionality. * Setup: I did not use the CD or the router wizard to set up the router. The router is pre-configured with an SSID, passcode, and credentials. All of this can be changed after logging into the 752DRU web interface for the first time. The router interface is simple and has most of the basic features including WPS and QOS. The setup process was so easy, I was able to set up the router using my previous router settings and get connected in 15 minutes. The only problem I had was that the router kept logging out whenever I made changes and none of my settings were saved. I didn't know what was going on until I realized the router does it automatically! More on that later. *Speed/Throughput: Down/Up performance is about the same as the single-band router I replaced. The wired Ethernet network speed for incoming and outgoing traffic is the same as that of the cable provider. Wireless at 2.4 GHz is much slower and offers about 1/3 the speed of wired downstream transmission, while 5 GHz is twice as fast and offers about 2/3 the speed of wired communication. The uplink speed remains the same for wired and wireless networks.*Range/Signal Strength: The router is located in the living room on the first floor of a 2,000 m² two-story house. ft. The 2.4GHz band is good enough to cover the entire area and signal strength is excellent everywhere. The 5GHz band is much more limited and the range is about half that of the 2.4GHz band. In the corner rooms upstairs, the signal is so weak that devices cannot or remain connected to the 5 GHz frequency. anything. I didn't have to reboot the router except for power outages. *Complaints: Another user commented on how the router logs off after a period of time. This is really very annoying! I have the latest firmware (09/2013) and it still logs you out after a few minutes. The router logs you out of the web interface, even if you are in the process of making the settings! I understand when moments of inactivity cause the router to log out of your session for security reasons, but not when you're actively making configuration changes. I had to quickly set up the router and save my settings before the router signed off. Every time I felt like I was in a race. There is no logout button or function anywhere in the UI. Therefore, closing the browser is the only way to safely log out. It doesn't matter anyway, because the router will automatically log off after a few minutes. A way to complicate something as simple as unsubscribing, Trendnet. However, this annoyance does not detract from the 752DRU's overall performance and stability. For a medium-sized home, this router performs surprisingly well. Great find!
