I bought this to upgrade my Ubiquiti Nano Station Loco to use as a hotspot. This model only works to connect with others using Airmax. It does not work as a standard access point. Copied from the Ubiquity website: UBNT-SNK 2 years ago. My apologies for the confusion caused by the name, but AirMAX AC products are not standard Wi-Fi products and are not advertised as such. If you want standard WiFi I would recommend returning it to your retailer as these products also do not accept alternative firmware. *Well, I'll explain: ********* The old NanoStation M5 could be used as both a communication channel and an access point, but the new NanoStation AC couldn't?******* And that's not it Feature that will come to a new? [Correctly. airMAX M units can act as access points for Wi-Fi based clients, but due to airMAX AC changes (both software and hardware), Wi-Fi connections are not supported. We have no plans to support standard Wi-Fi on airMAX AC.]
