I bought these to keep in our cars in case we get into an accident or a stuck car and passengers like an elderly person or a small child need warmth - we'd have something to offer. Same idea for the few water bottles we keep in hot weather. I would definitely throw one in a daypack to keep "just in case" for uses like collecting water, an alarm, or an actual blanket. They are a bit bigger and thicker than the cheap ones.
