Review on Fellowes 35250 Powershred Performance Extension by James Hess

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Recommended for any Cross shredder, not just Fellowes

I recently had to buy a new shredder after my old one gave up the ghost. I chose the Fellowes Powershred Shredmate because it was the only one available that fit in the space available in my home office. It was only then that I learned that cross cut shredders like the Fellowes and my dead shredder require oil for maximum performance. So I bought a bottle of Fellowes Powershred Performance shredder oil not only to keep it running but also to avoid problems like reduced sheet capacity and annoying noises during shredding - both of which my newest shredder was experiencing during its death throes. I'm oiling my new chopper. Every time I empty the trash can. So far, so good. My chopper still works. I recommend using Fellowes Performance Oil even if your chopper is not a Fellowes model. The only reason I don't give the product five stars is the overly secure packaging. Before use, unscrew the spout and remove the seal from the neck of the bottle. After replacing the nozzle, it must then be pierced with a sharp object to create a hole for the oil to flow out. But that's a trifle at best.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • So so

Just canola oil. Use a synthetic oil instead.
