Review on Nikon GP-1 CA10 10-pin Cable: Enhance πŸ“‘ GPS Connectivity with the Fast & Reliable GP-1 by Leroy Stanton

Camera connector bends down

This replacement cable is inferior in design to the original. The original GP-1 cable has a kink at the camera connector so that it slopes upwards, making it easy to mount the camera on a tripod with the L-bracket in a vertical position. I'm not talking about the rectangular part of the connection. This is the part that leads to the right angle joint, see photo. This cable is bent in the opposite direction so it faces down and gets in the way when trying to use the L-Bracket. The original connector had the cable pointing up, away from the camera, but this connector has it pointing down. Seems to me that this is an outdated design as it also has a different knob to screw in the connector. The design is clearly imperfect as two of my cables broke. One to connect to the camera and one to connect to the GP-1. The Gp-1 blocks have withstood several heavy hits and still work, but not the cables.
