My son decided he needed a Labradoodle. After our 14 year old Shih Tzu died, I wasn't ready for another dog in the house. We loved our little dog Barkley, he was so smart and well-behaved. I really didn't want a big dog. However, it's hard not to love Cerberus the Labradoodle. This is an extremely affectionate dog, but she is still a puppy and will require a lot of training. Barkley never needed a fence; He just stayed in the yard, did his thing, and returned to the house to freshen up when he was done. Cerberus loves to explore everything in the yard, in the neighboring yard and on the street. After we got Cerberus, we had to lead him to the potty on a leash. That's normal, but he was always pulling on the leash and in that sense he had no freedom. I started looking for wireless fencing options because fencing isn't really an option in our yard. I haven't found any wireless options without high negative reviews, but I went with this one because it seemed to be the best of them all and so far it hasn't disappointed me. We've only used it about three times. months, so I can't speak to the durability issues that others have experienced. Installation was pretty easy. The supplied instructions are very detailed. The hardest part was walking around and marking the perimeter, but it wasn't difficult. We started training Cerberus according to the instructions. My wife and son started training because I can only hear the beeps when the collar is up to my ear. We took our time and continued to use the leash until Cerberus stopped trying to go outside the perimeter. Then one day he ran out the door as I was walking out and I was like, 'Oh shit! We'll never catch him," but he stayed within the perimeter and rejoined us without much training. Since that day we have stopped using the leash for his potty rides and he has been doing very well for about two months. Sometimes we leave him unattended for short periods, and he's always where he should be when we call him. He is much better on a leash and I can tell he likes being on a leash too. However, I had to raise the collar to level four (the stubborn canine version) to get his attention. He even sometimes goes out without a collar and doesn't try to escape. It works very well with the system and we are very happy with it.
