Review on πŸ”’ Secure and Space-Saving TotalMount Apple AirPort Express Mount: Mount Your Router with Ease by Tony Trotter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good for intended use, but maybe not a good idea.

The device itself is well made for this purpose. If you're determined to mount your AirPort Express on a wall, this is a solid choice. Note, however, that AirPort Express is not designed for vertical installation. The antennas inside are intended for horizontal use. If you lay your AirPort on its side (e.g. mount it on a wall with this mount) you may find that the range is significantly reduced, especially in areas "above" or "below" the device when you are away from it AirPort to be seen from the view. Unfortunately, TotalMount is not designed for horizontal use, such as B. on the ceiling or under a shelf. It doesn't have clips to hold the AirPort Express; it relies on gravity to keep it in place. The mounting screws are also offset to the "top" of the bracket. If you attempt to use it as a ceiling mount, it will sag under the weight of the AirPort due to these misaligned screws. The package contains two high-quality screws, but no wall plugs. If you plan to hang it on a regular drywall or wall panel, you will need to purchase the appropriate wall anchors. It also includes a set of clips that snap into the air vents of many third-party monitors. Whether this works depends on whether your monitor has vents, how badly the monitor's built-in RF shielding attenuates your WiFi signal, and why you want to install a WiFi router on your monitor in the first place. Also included are two long and one short white Velcro cable ties. So if you're concerned about WiFi signal strength, you might be better off buying a small AirPort shelf or getting a product specifically designed to mount your AirPort to the ceiling. .
