A few years ago my kids were given a Klutz book/face kit and I was authorized to paint faces not only for my kids and their friends but also for myself and a few other adults. also around Halloween. So I looked for a new non-toxic, water-based paint that would cover well. I bought this set purely based on the reviews - for the price it seems great. In short, I was not satisfied with the set received. These colors didn't work the way I expected; The paint didn't mix well with water at all (water mostly pooled on top of the paint and didn't mix! ) and ink coverage was weak and watery. It was like trying to make face paint out of wax. I can't imagine how it got such good reviews! Of course, by that point I had used the kit and thrown away the receipt and didn't really feel it was worth the time and effort to contact the company. When Blue Squid emailed me to review Revain, I took the opportunity to reply to their email and tell them I was disappointed with this color. Julie from Blue Squid immediately responded with a personal message (not an auto-generated reply) expressing her concern that I was not happy with this product. She immediately offered me a full refund, no questions asked, or a spare set. Not being able to get over all the great reviews for this product, I decided to try a different set. My new set arrived on Friday and I immediately opened it up to test it out. At this point, a drop of water and a light brushstroke activated the color. It blended beautifully - and the coverage was fantastic. More water = lighter coverage, less water = thicker coverage. Colors are smooth and vibrant, and the included brushes make it easy to carve out fine details or broad fills of color. The colors are lightweight and dry quickly, which is great for adding more color for deeper coverage or detailing on a base color. And finally water-based - just rinse off. For the money this is a wonderful makeup set with a wide range of colors. And Blue Squid clearly cares about making sure their customers have a positive experience with their product.
