Since we don't have an upstairs air conditioner here in our 100+ year old New England home, I was curious about the temperature and humidity in a few rooms (peeling wallpaper and wet clothing, towels and bedding). I bought two of these and after taking them out of the box and putting them next to each other (at the bottom of the air conditioner) both readings were slightly off (even after a few hours), close together but not identical. So if you're looking for exact measurements, you should probably look elsewhere. With the rangefinder not showing, I also have to rack my brains to remember what is and isn't good humidity, which is frustrating. One next to my bed and as I follow my husband in the dark I also noticed that I can't see the meter because it's not lit so I know whether to close the windows or not. (For some reason I thought the button was a way to light it up? I should have paid more attention to that.) I guess it comes down to what you need it for, and with that - you get what you pay for.
