Currently, I am employed in the field of audio software. For seven years (first 1, then 2), I relied on an Apple Magic Mouse, and while it is gorgeous and light, it is also painful after extended usage. The standard mouse and the Logitech mouse have different characteristics. It's better in some aspects (ergonomics, plus I like to utilize the buttons instead of the touch surface) and worse in others (horizontal scrolling works differently than vertical scrolling, which requires additional getting used to). The biggest criticism is that this is a rather lengthy adjustment period if we examine the particular instance of switching from Apple to Logitech. Although your hand may be in a natural position to use a mouse, it may take some effort to figure out how to actually move it. It's like switching from one car to another; in a few days, you'll adapt. There is no comparison in terms of quality. Already I'm becoming more exact, and I've found that there are ideal working angles, brush strokes, and timing. The wheeled ones are learning the ropes, too. The horizontal one, though, remains an area for improvement. The volume is also discussed at length, though I didn't read between the lines (the ears are busy with other things during work).
