I have a Kirby vacuum that was submerged 42-48 inches in seawater along with about 6 other vacuums at my family's homes that were flooded by Hurricane Sandy. No other brand of vacuum or technique has worked EXCEPT for my Kirby vacuum. I rinsed the lid of the bag with anti-mold solution, dried Kirby, and guess what? This faded little monster still sucks just as hard as it did before it hit the salt water! The only thing that didn't work was the power-assisted gearing to push this little monster. The strap needed replacing so I bought these straps from this seller. When I changed the belt, hello! The transmission is also running smoothly now. I don't know why, I don't care why, but I salute the production of Kirby vacuums! Unbelievable! Maybe I'll replace my pool vacuum with a Kirby (hey, just kidding, okay?! And no, I don't sell vacuums!)
