I needed this to connect my TV to a Denon receiver. I had to replace a Sony receiver that died. I used to use a simple stereo interconnect cable. Denon has an optical input for outputting TV sound, which Sony didn't have. I wanted a better connection so I bought this. A big plus is the cable storage. Looks attractive and is intended to protect the fiber optic cable for a long time. The connections are also solid. Length is neutral. I thought about ordering a 15 foot cable but this one turned out to be 12 foot so I bought it. Its length is enough to reach the optical output of the TV and the optical input of the receiver. I'm also not sure what the benefit of gold plating is as the signal is transmitted through the fibre. Connections are what a star is worth. Unlike some optical cables I've used. This was difficult to connect to both the TV and the receiver. It aligned easily enough but didn't want to snap like some of the cables I've used. It only remains to guess whether I inserted it completely or not. It seems to be working correctly, so I must have gotten it right. However, I would have liked more positive reviews.
