I've bought 4 so far for my rescue cats. This is the perfect size. A float didn't work. Installs them plumbers, but it's easy for anyone to do. He installed an L-shaped PVC pipe that attached to a PVC ball valve under the drain plug so I didn't have to reach down to drain. I can turn the valve on and off on the side and the water flows quickly. We found that one of the swimmers didn't stop the water and overflowed. So he went back, found the junk in the mechanism and cleaned it, but it was still overflowing. We then found that the float itself was set too high so that when it was being filled with water it hit the back edge of the device and it stopped it. You need to make sure that whatever height you set it at, the float can rise and stop without hitting anything else and continue to fill and overflow. Now it works fine. I've noticed that mosquitoes like to breed in my other water containers, but for some reason I haven't seen them in these. I do the dishes every day anyway, just in case. Some cats like to wash their paws in it. Will buy 3 more as soon as money is available Good to know that in the extreme desert heat there is always water available for my cats and homeless neighbors who stay here. (I put one in a pet friendly location.) So I'm very happy with this purchase.
