I was looking for a way to curl my hair without heating it. I had a perm, but I don't like the damage, the hair becomes like straw. I bought smaller flexible wands but they make me look like Shirley Temple. These 1 inch rods give me the look I want. I've only slept on it once. It was super uncomfortable. So I use a keratin straightener and lightly dampen my hair. I use two packs (8 rolls). I like the result very much.
