Review on Enhance Your Photography with the Olympus FL-600R Wireless Flash by John Shorter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not big, not small. Precisely!

I've only had this flash drive for a few days but so far I've been very impressed with its range of features and capabilities. This seems like a good compromise between size and performance for an m43 camera. From the packaging it looked like a quality product. Fit and finish are first class. Good weight but still the light weight I was looking for to match my new Olympus E-M1, although the weight almost doubles if you put in 4 Eneloop NiMh batteries (which is what you plan to use in this flash) . ). Funny, I didn't think the LCD control panel or the LED front lighting would be very useful, but I found both features unexpectedly nice. The LCD control panel makes changing settings quick and easy, and the small LED indicator (which can be set to 5 different levels) is useful not only as a quick light for videos, but also as a small flashlight to inspect my camera bag . in a dark club. Carefully. Of course it's great to have control over all the functions of my Olympus camera, but I've also used it with a non-Olympus camera and got great results too (using flash control as well as slave mode). My only concern is the long term reliability of the small plastic flash latch lever. It seems to me that it should have been metal, but I think time will tell how well it works. Anyway I'll get back to you in 6 months and let you know how he's doing. Yes the 50r (with almost double the power) would be nice to have and I may get it for an expanded flash setup. Day but for general use this is a great portable flash for the Olympus m43 system.
