We often use them for meals. They're great for one-pot dishes like cereal bowls, pasta bowls, or stir-fries. The sides are at a reasonable angle to keep the food in the bowl as you run it around with the utensils, and the wide top allows you to cut larger chunks when needed. They are strong enough, I haven't noticed any problems with their desire to tip. Washes well in the dishwasher. Trust me you will want to buy 2 per person in your family if you don't wash the dishes after every meal! ;-)
