The Northstar engine in this car always seems to run hot (200-210). I want to know that there is a failsafe thermostat that is definitely not the cause of this. It was the right part and was delivered quickly. Car gauges show it running pretty warm, even with a new radiator, thermostat and sensor. However, the coolant temperature, when measured with an independent calibrated thermometer, tends to be about 20 degrees colder than the dash computer, possibly due to where GM placed the temperature sensor on the block. In any case, it's worth it to calm down. Why would anyone put a thermostat in their car that doesn't work in the closed position? it just doesn't make sense. By the way, I replaced the thermos 192 with part 180f. the car runs fine. Some GM cars don't work as well when using a lower temperature thermostat than advertised, but in this case it's fine
