Review on Aqueon Siphon Vacuum Gravel Cleaner Mini: Compact 5-Inch Cleaning Solution by Samantha Cook

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quick, easy, clean and done

Many years ago I gave up my 50 gallon fresh water tanks. A few weeks ago my grandparents gave me 5 goldfish in a tiny bowl. I ran to get my old 5 gallon tank that I still hold on to when the boys won goldfish at the carnival a few years ago. A few days later the tank fogged up and I went insane. We had already lost two fish and I didn't want to lose another. I'll check here in a moment to see if they have a vacuum cleaner for such a small aquarium. I have used the larger one in a large aquarium in the past but have not been very happy with the results. Wow! They make a smaller version of my super gravel vacuum. What do I like about the Aqueon version compared to my old monster 6 foot gravel vacuum? Pro: Comes with instructions in the box. The instructions will tell you how to use the suction tube to start water suction. from the tank to the bucket. No more lips on the hose to start water intake. I've never liked the taste of aquarium water on my lips and tongue. It comes with a bucket with a hose clamp. A simple and much needed feature. The spout no longer slips out of the bucket, creating a puddle of water on the floor and everywhere. The inlet tube is the right length for my small aquarium. It wasn't too short for me to sink deep into the water, or too long to rise above the tank. The flexible hose is nice, thick, and dark brown or gray in color. That's great, because on my old monster vacuum, after several water changes, I could see dark substances sticking to the hose. It looks bad, but the darker color of this tube will hide it. Cons: I didn't find any cons other than that it would be great if it came with a 5 gallon bucket, but that adds too much to the cost.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Not bad
