Review on πŸ’¨ Lasko 1885 18-inch Cyclone Pedestal Fan with Remote Control - White, Efficient Cooling Solution by Candace Young

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not the best Lasko fan I've bought.

I have several fans of the Lasko brand, so this is not my first acquaintance with their products. So far I've been very happy with their fans. First, while the fan box/package is suitable for pallet shipping to retail stores, it is not very good for single shipments. One of the front grill clips wasn't broken, but didn't seem to affect its structure or increase the noise, so I can live with that issue. The rocker shaft was broken, but since it's a fixed direction of use, I was able to glue the handle back on and put up with it. Both broken issues I believe stem from the fact that the parts were simply thrown in the box and had no internal padding or cushioning whatsoever. However, these are minor fixes and did not affect my intended use of the fan. One aspect that I'm gradually not satisfied with is the smell of the fan during operation. It doesn't necessarily smell burned, but more like engine oil. After several hours of use, overheating is not observed, but the smell remains. I'm still debating whether or not to send the fan in for replacement. Those remarks aside, the fan speed is really strong and the noise level is not above what you would expect with such a strong wind flow. The remote control is also useful. Updated 6/19/12. The smell from the engine stayed, so I decided to return this fan and buy another model.

Pros
  • PERFECT FOR SLEEPING. When you need white noise to sleep on, this fan is big enough to blow into a high bed, quiet enough, especially on low settings, and powerful enough to blow across the room to circulate the air. Produces a soothing purr that drowns out bedside noises, making it easy for you to fall asleep and rest.
